Primarily we apply beautiful metal finishes onto other surfaces by using the Axolotl liquid metal technique. This is known as Applied Metal.
We also inlay metals into timber, stone, concrete, glass and other surfaces,
Our Applied Concrete finish works in the same way, by applying an extremely durable and thin concrete layer onto (or into) other substrates.
Finally Sheet Stone is our range of natural stone that has been onto bonded onto a resin layer only 1mm thick.
Applied Metal is the Axolotl technique of liquefying powdered metals and then chemically bonding them onto a substrate. No heat is used in this process so the substrate will not be damaged.
We can apply onto just about anything including other metals, plastics, glass, timber, stone and lots more.
Copper, brass, bronze, zinc, pewter, nickel, stainless steel and iron. There are also some unique Axolotl blended metals and alloys: Treasury Bronze, Sentinel Copper, Gold Nickel, Armoury Brass and more. See the metal swatches page for more details.

Axolotl coatings are UV stable and extremely weather resistant.
The finishes are typically as hard wearing as the substrate to which they are applied. For example if applied over MDF and then struck with a hammer, the surface will dent. However the same finish onto a steel substrate would not be affected any more than the steel under it.
Generally the only way to remove the finishes are with a sharp chisel or a metal grinder.
Unsealed metals will scratch in the same way as other unsealed sheet metals, as they are extremely similar surfaced. Metals that have been sealed with Axolotl Metal Sealer will have higher scratch resistance. Abrasion testing data is available in the data sheets above.
This depends on the project size, existing workload and the time of year. Most orders are complete within 15 working days.
Our lead times stated in quotations are an estimate only. Up to date lead times can be provided from our sales staff at the time an order is placed. Prompt sign off of quotations, approval of artwork, and payment of orders helps us to achieve quicker turn around times.
Applied Metal saves a lot of weight, material, fabrication time/cost and eliminates welding, warping, joining and folding of metal. We can create seamless appearing metal pieces across all materials and shapes, including compound curves. Applied Metal can be bonded in various textures; this is not possible with solid metals.
This is your choice. We usually seal the metals to prevent further ageing but this is not required. If the Applied Metal or sheet metal is not sealed, they will continue to age naturally.
In most instances we only undertake the coating and finishing aspect of a project. The substrate is delivered to us, we complete our services, then the item is collected from our factory.
In some cases it may not be practicable for items to be delivered and collected from us (e.g. front doors to country areas) in which case we may be able to undertake the complete project.

- The item to be coated is fabricated and then dry-fitted on site
- The item is booked in and delivered to our factory in Beaconsfield (Fremantle)
- We carry out the coating services
- The items are paid for, then collected from our factory and installed by the fitter
In general we do not organise delivery or collection of items, nor so we undertake site installation works.
All of our coatings come with a 5 year warranty although this may be extended depending on the substrate type and the project. In reality the coatings are a permanent chemical bond likely to out last the design use of the main project.
